The Knot

When I get philosophical
I think of all the things
That you and I've been through
We're caught in a trap

Hand in glove, key in lock
My neuroses, body blocks
And all the baggage you have brought
You have to laugh
Or cry...

Movement is impossible
Tentacles colossal
Monuments to inertia
And a fear of change

Are we just too comfortable
With recreating subtle
Imitations of our childhood homes
And family games
Oh no...

There's no way out!
As I see it right now
As I feel it right now

There's no way out
We're stuck in our patterns
We're not gonna change!

There's no way out!
We're caught in illusion
A destructive collusion
A knot!

Yesterday we tried to talk
Of traumas, shocks
Upsetting thoughts, our younger years
We really screwed up

I thought that you were crazy
The amazing
Self-delusions in that head of yours
Quite irrational stuff
Oh yeah...

Then you lost it
Caustic comments
I was self-absorbed, a narcissistic shell
Empty inside

Relationship to me
Was only sexuality
Bed was the altar for my
One track mind
That's right...

There's no way out!
As I see it right now
As I feel it right now

There's no way out
We're stuck in our patterns
We're not gonna change!

There's no way out!
We're caught in illusion
A destructive collusion
A knot!

Psychotherapy, a plea
For help in realms
That we create but can not escape
We can't even move!

Doctor after doctor
Asked us how it is we profit
From this cage we're in
From our depressing mood
Who knows...

Can we change, rearrange
Put it all together
In a brand new way?
The jury is out

For now we're stuck together
Lost forever
Wandering around no destination, none
I have my doubts
Don't you?

There's no way out!
As I see it right now
As I feel it right now

There's no way out
We're stuck in our patterns
We're not gonna change!

There's no way out!
We're caught in illusion
A destructive collusion
A knot!
