Trapped in as tower, no way out
Nothing to see but the sea
Anger a king and you pay with your life
Anger a king and you bleed

The architect who trapped the Minotaur in labyrinths of stone
A clever escape from the cage
Gave his son wings of feathers, sealing wax and rope
“This tower will not be our grave”

Look to the sky
See there: a young man, he’s flying
Look to the sky
He won’t be there very long
Look to the sky
That young man is falling
Burning — his wings are on fire
Turn away — you know he will die

Stick close to me son, we will glide to the harbor
Don’t fly too low, the waves they’re so strong
Stick close to me, my son, we’re not birds of a feather
Don’t fly too high beware the heat of the sun

But Icarus was a natural, he needed no instruction
The winds took him higher than high
He soared like eagle, saw the world spread out below him
“I’m a god now, Artemis my wife”

Look to the sky
See there: a young man, he’s flying
Look to the sky
He won’t be there very long
Look to the sky
That young man is falling
Burning — his wings are on fire
Turn away — you know he will die
