I Will Fly

A beautiful bird on a high branch waits
Born with broken wings
She longs to feel the trade winds
Beneath her body
Yet she cannot fly

Green canopies on high shield her from the sun
Secure from raging storm
Yet her imagination reaches out
To touch the sky
And still she cannot fly

A shimmering angel calls
A being of living fire
A shard of darkness falls
Whispers of desire

A city of angels calls
An oasis of healing water
A city of darkness falls
An end to the endless slaughter

Of heart
Of body
Of soul

A beautiful bird on a high branch sings
I will seek the rising sun
I will cross Pacific, churning oceans deep
I will find a way to fly

A musical bird on a high note calls
I must flee this tree to breathe
I must leave this island home, my very paradise
I must find a way to fly

A shimmering rainbow calls
The spirit of living air
A shard of midnight falls
Doors closing to despair

A city of angels calls
An oasis to heal the daughter
A province of darkness falls
An end to the endless slaughter

Of heart
Of body
Of soul

Rising in the west
From the fire
A dragon wild and dreaming

She spreads her wings
She soars to starlight
Through air so thin
No mortal could ever breathe

Rising up beside the bird
With broken wings
Safe in her tree

Dragon of star flight
Dragon of earth
Dragon of heart
An open door to life set free

A beautiful bird on a high branch leaps
Trusting only intuition
A beautiful bird feels the dragon breathe
Gentle trade winds against her body

A beautiful bird on a dragon bold
Feels her golden cage dissolve
Crossing angry seas toward the blazing sun
She has touched the sky

A city of angels beckons
Empires of darkness fall
An oasis of healing water
Only the brave heed dragon call

The city of angels shimmers
As fragments of darkness fade
And deep from within her heart
Comes the birth of joyful singing

Of heart
Of body
Of soul

I will fly
I will fly
I will fly
