Hissy Snake in Colorado

Hissy Snake on O’ahu
Bookworm walking the courtyard green
Julia hopped a plane to Colorado
Now she’s crossing Rocky Mountain streams

Hissy Snake now riding bareback
Gulliver’s Travels and Moby Dick
Big house by the lake, so much snow in winter
So many trails, which one to pick?

Where does your trail go from here?
Maybe it’s a highway to the stars
Where does your road roll on from here?
Don’t forget you can be just right where you are

Choose a trail and hike it to the very end
Now your journey’s yours alone
Where the highway ends you might learn to fly
Travel far before you get old (like me)

Julia on FaceTime she can talk forever
Painting pictures of her mile-high life
Julia in motion, so many windows
So much to see, so much to describe

Maybe a vet, maybe a lawyer
Maybe a doctor, but a writer for sure
Writing letters when the teacher’s not looking
With such a start who knows what’s in store?

Where does your trail go from here?
Maybe it’s a highway to the stars
Where does your road roll on from here?
Don’t forget you can be just right where you are

Choose a trail and hike it to the very end
Now your journey’s yours alone
Where the highway ends you just might learn to fly
Travel far before you get old (like me)

Saddle your horse and ride across the plains
See everything that’s real and beautiful
Ride to the mountains, touch the sky
Have courage and be kind, be graceful

Where does your starship fly from here?
Nothing quite beats wings of light
Oh, the places you’ll go! Oh, the places she’ll go!
Oh Julia, you never know, such is life!
